City of Crystal
The city maintains 27 parks as well as numerous ball fields, courts, playgrounds, trails and activity areas. The Crystal Community Center features an outdoor aquatic center, skate park and little league baseball complex. Crystal has been awarded the “Minnesota Star City” designation for economic development.
Crystal is a fully-developed, first tier suburban community just west of Minneapolis in Hennepin County. The city became a Home Rule Charter City in 1960 and has a population of more than 23,000 residents.
The city’s mission is to improve and promote the quality of life for all Crystal citizens and provide municipal services in a cost-effective, innovative, and professional manner.
The city is committed to redevelopment, updating its infrastructure, and maintaining the vitality and livability of its neighborhoods through proactive code enforcement. Amenities include the Crystal Cove Aquatic Center, Crystal Community Center, parks and trails, a variety of programs and services for all ages, well-groomed sports fields, and the redeveloped Crystal Shopping Center.
Crystal’s official newspaper for legal notices is the Crystal-Robbinsdale SunPost. Legal notices are published each Thursday.
The Lake Crystal Area Recreation Center (LCARC) is an amazing multi-functional recreation and community center serving Blue Earth County, Nicollet County and beyond. The LCARC features 24/7 access to a fully-equipped cardio/machine weight/free weight fitness center, 2 full basketball/volleyball/multi-use courts, elevated walking track, and locker rooms. The LCARC’s signature feature is a 150,000-gallon swimming pool with 6 lanes of lap swim, a zero-depth entry area and children’s area and slide, plus a larger water-slide, and a spa. The LCARC provides programming ranging from Senior events (Lunch and Learn Series, Senior Aerobics, Health Education) to our highly-regarded Fit Kids program for school-aged children. Finally, the LCARC hosts many events in the two community rooms and gym space from family celebrations to vendor fairs and craft shows.
